Falcao in Manchester United

A bit odd transfer where a big club like Manchester United pays £6m to sign a player on a season-long loan. But more interesting will be the
philosophy that Van Gaal will have to implement in order to make the team sound like £150M+ simphony.

After the record-braking signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, it is obvious that Manchester United is limited how much more money is able to spend. So, Falcao's transfer seems like the only legitimate option. It is more than clear that Falcao is top class striker, but he is recovering from an injury and it might take a while for him to recover.

Danny Welbeck has left the club and has joined Arsenal on a long term contract. Man Utd has earned £16m from Danny's departure, but the real question is whether this was good decision.

The tactical system that Van Gaal prefers will have to change some player's mentality of playing. 3-5-2 formation with this roster will have to be with Van Persie and Falcao in front, thus putting Wayne Rooney behind them. And that is the easy part of the job. The problems are in the midfield and the back, where Van Gaal has to find a strategy to incorporate Mata, Hererra, Young, Valencia and Di Maria in a more defencive way, since they all are top class players (except Young) and the AMC role is already taken.

The defence will be reinforced with Marcos Rojo, a £16m transfer, but we will see if he is going to play on the left back or center-back position. Luke Shaw is also in the roster, so that is another natural left back to fit in this 3-5-2 formation.

It will be wonderful to watch the next game against QPR and see if we've been on the right track.
